About

At the heart of the project are collaboration and community engagement. Citizens, civil society organizations, academics, experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders are involved in different geographies to co-design strategies to deal with local impacts of climate change. In this way the project delivers context-specific solutions, recognizing that there is no “one size fits all” in adaptation.

Adaptation AGORA

Through a combination of physical and digital approaches, Adaptation AGORA created pilot regions in Italy, Sweden, Spain and Germany. These pilot areas served as co-production arenas where climate adaptation solutions were co-designed, co-developed, and co-implemented. Alongside the pilots, the project delivered a roadmap for transformational change, scaling up citizen engagement, transferring effective policy instruments, and ensuring a lasting legacy.
In parallel, a suite of digital tools was developed with input from the four geographies. These tools not only supported co-creation but also raised awareness of climate challenges and adaptation opportunities, empowering citizens to take action and contribute to local adaptation pathways. By fostering awareness, democratic participation, and resilience against disinformation, Adaptation AGORA strengthened the foundations for meaningful and inclusive climate action.

Adaptation AGORA Tools

Four digital tools were developed by the Adaptation AGORA project. They provide the general public with an open space that supports the growth of a wide community of informed and aware citizens.

The AGORA Community Hub is the living digital environment that enables stakeholders, scientists, experts, media and citizens to network and communicate, facilitating them to find peers and other communities from other geographical or societal contexts to share challenges and needs.

The Digital Academy on Climate data risks and tools helps citizens and stakeholders access and apply open-source climate and risk data. Its goal is to build understanding of climate topics in a wide and non-specialised audience and support practical strategies for effective climate adaptation.

The gamified mobile app turned climate change education into an engaging and entertaining experience. By integrating interactive features like scoreboards and rankings, it encourages citizens and stakeholders to learn, participate, and inspire their peers to do the same. The app tackles climate disinformation and promotes sustainable behaviors for adaptation.

The Digital Academy against climate change disinformation, equips citizens and stakeholders with reliable, fact-checked information. Through accessible resources and training, it strengthens skills to spot disinformation, promotes climate literacy, and supports evidence-based climate action.
